Planting Seeds

Your mind is like a garden.
Your thoughts are like seeds.
You can grow flowers or you can grow weeds.

Have you ever planted a garden?

If you have, then you have an advantage for knowing how your brain works.

To have a healthy garden, there are some things that are important.

First, know what matters.

The soil matters. If you try to plant a peach tree in Sheridan, Wyoming, it isn't going to grow.

The climate matters. You have to know what environment will allow certain seeds to grow.

The seeds matter. If you want zucchini, then you better have some zucchini seeds.

Weeds matter. Weeds grow automatically. They can suffocate your seeds before they ever have a chance. Some weeds can't be plucked right away. You must know how to spot a weed and what to do with it.

Second, understanding how seasons work is critical.

Planting is usually done in the spring. This is like opportunity. There is only a small window which certain seeds must be planted if they are going to grow.

Then, you must cultivate the seeds you planted in the summer. Sometimes for months, sometimes for years! Did you know bamboo takes 3 years of cultivating before it grows above the surface? This is the daily work necessary to allow seeds to grow.

Harvesting is usually done in the fall. You get to reap the rewards of your labors. If you are a good steward of your garden, you will have a better harvest.

After the harvest is always the winter. Winter always comes after Fall. No matter how good your harvest, winter always comes.

Know what season you are in!

This is the process of becoming mentally tough.

"Stand guard at the door of your mind" - Jim Rohn

What are you growing in your garden?

Anything you allow into your mind is a seed planted.

Thoughts become things.

"If you see it in your mind, you will hold it in your hand." - Bob Proctor
